Assess Preschool Speech and Language Milestones
-
Milestones are things that most children can do by a certain age.
-
It is important to look at developmental milestones regularly, and connect with speech-language pathologists when children fall behind.
-
It is not that we are concerned that children will not "talk" by the time they are in kindergarten.
-
It is that if they are behind in their speech & language development, there are things that we can do to help them express themselves more effectively, and PREVENT later reading (and other) challenges.
-
The earlier we intervene, the easier it is to nurture brain development so that they succeed with reading at both the word-level and the meaning-level later on.
-
This video how effective it is when we intervene early rather than "wait and see".
